All FMCA and TC series floor boxes are made with an 11-gauge door/cover assembly. Each properly installed floor box relies on its respective basket to provide required support to the door/cover. (See FMCA2000 illustration below.)

The basket limits the unsupported area of each door to the approximate dimensions shown below.

Each FMCA or TC series product is designed to maintain an installed strength sufficient to support a three-truck piano dolly or one wheel of a caster-equipped rack or rigging box limited to 900 pounds per wheel load. Such loads are considered to be temporary loads and are not recommended to remain parked on any floor box, as this may cause deformation over time. We have tested these products to withstand loads in excess of the above, but are unable to provide an absolute load rating due to on-site variables that may affect the actual installed result.

FMCA and TC series products will generally handle pianos, lecterns, road cases, light scenery, and wheeled electronic equipment racks weighing less than 1800 total pounds. They are not intended to support scissors lifts, fork lifts, heavy scenery, heavy lighting control cabinets or racks, or similar heavy loads or devices.

Even though the materials used have bending/deformation strength far in excess of what is stated herein, we strongly caution any customer, specifier, engineer, or architect to avoid loads in excess of 900 pounds.
